I found a bug while I was using ViPlay, what I can do?
You can report the bug to us together with a detailed description of it and what were doing previouslt, either
by e-mail or using our forum.
-
Why does ViPlay say "The file format is invalid, unsupported or you don't have all the necessary filters installed!"?
You probably don't have the right codecs you need for the playback of the video. We recommend you to uninstall
all the codecs in your system and download
Coda Codec Pack.
If your problem persists, you can use the
GSpot utility to find out
what codecs you need for your video file. Once you know the video/audio codec name you can perform a search in the
Internet and download them. If you still can't solve the problem, the file might be in an unsupported format.
-
The video is like a negative with only 3 predominant colors. Green, Purple and Black. How I can fix it?
This problem occurs only with movies compressed with some versions of the DivX codec (and only in some systems).
You have multiple ways to fix it:
- Installing the latest DirectX version (recommended).
- Changing the Windows palette colors to 24/32bits.
- Using the ffdshow MPEG-4 decoder as the preferred video decoder for DivX format.
- Changing the video playback mode to Video Renderer in Preferences/Video.
-
Why doesn't DVD Playback work?
For DVD playback you must have installed MPEG2 decoder filters, together with AC3 decoders in your system. These
filters are included in
Coda Codec Pack.
Another possible cause is that your DVD is region-protected and your DVD drive is unable to read DVD's of other
regions. To fix this there is a software that will make the DVD seem unprotected to all applications trying to
access it (eg. video players). The name of this software is
AnyDVD.
-
What are movie profiles?
Movie profiles are a database that ViPlay uses to save and restore settings for each movie (if this option is
enabled).
-
"Color controls" doesn't work in my PC, is this a ViPlay bug?
No. Some graphic cards do not support overlay color controls so it's a problem of your old video card.
-
Why doesn't the desktop mode work?
It is very probable that you did not enable Overlay. Go to Preferences/Video and select "Overlay" as video
playback mode.
-
The option to change the video playback mode is always disabled, why?
This option is disabled only while you are playing a video. Close the file, then go to Preferences and it will
be enabled.
-
How do I make ViPlay display the subtitles on my TV?
ViPlay does not currently support drawing subtitles to the overlay surface. You need to use an external filter
to draw subtitles, such as VobSub or DivXG400.
-
Why doesn't ViPlay doesn't load my subtitle file?
Probably the subtitle file is corrupted or the format is not supported. If you want you can send us the subtitle
file and we will tell you what the real problem is, or if it is a problem of ViPlay's engine, fix it.
-
How does "Autosearch for subtitles" work?
If this option is enabled, when you open a movie file ViPlay will search for subtitles starting with the movie
name in the specified folder (if any) and in the folder of the original movie.
-
I see double subtitles, what's wrong?
You have installed VobSub, DivXG400 or other subtitle filter that auto-loads subtitles. We recommend you to either
uninstall them if you don't need to watch subtitles in your TV, or to disable "Autosearch for subtitles" in
Preferences/Video so that the filter loads subtitle and ViPlay doesn't.
-
Why can't I see Russian or other language subtitles correctly?
Look at Preferences/Subtitles/Font and select the correct font charset.
-
What is the use of the option "use tags"?
This option allows ViPlay to use subtitles with font style tags (color, bold, italic, underline).
Of course, ViPlay will display those tags if they are on the subtitle file you loaded. Note that currently,
ViPlay only supports tags for the whole subtitle and not just one part of it.
-
What is DeDynamic DirectShow filter?
The DeDynamic filter normalizes and/or reduces dynamics in the audio stream of the movie.
-
What is a custom media graph and how does it work?
This option allows you to render a media file with the filters you want. If it is enabled, when you open a
file ViPlay will search in \Graph for a file with the name equal to the extension of the opened media
file and use it to render it (if found). See "avi.vmg" for a reference on how to make one of these files. Only
for advanced users.
-
How do I import DVD chapters into a ViPlay bookmark file?
Open a movie, then go to Bookmarks/Edit Bookmarks dialog, click Import, set file types to DVD-Video and open
the correct IFO file.
-
I can't play .mov files!, why?
Unfortunately ViPlay (DirectShow) only support versions of QuickTime equal and prior to 2.0. Try to search for a
filter in the internet. Good luck!
-
How do I use/configure WinLIRC?
The "Use WinLIRC" option must be enabled, then you can go to the Controls/WinLIRC section, click in any of the
actions listed and press the desired button in your remote control.
-
How do I remove an assigned key shortcut?
Make sure the "Select key" text box is focused and press Backspace twice.
-
How can I use a non-default sound card for Audio Output?
Go to Preferences/Audio and select the audio device you want.
-
How do I install a skin?
Simple, double click on a skin file (.vsz) and ViPlay should start with the new skin applied. Also you can copy
a compressed WinAmp 2 skin (.wsz) into \Skins folder.
-
I want to make my own skin, how can I do this?
Download the base skin from our website and check the files "skin.cfg", "playlist.cfg" and "fsskin.cfg" with
notepad (or any text editor) for a reference on how to create your own skins.
-
Where can I find/submit ViPlay skins?
Submit the skin to AML, by e-mail. Check the "Contact us" section in our website. Do not use the forum to submit
skins.
All the available skins for ViPlay are in our website.
-
I use ConverIt to convert a skin from other player to ViPlay. I can submit it to you?
You can submit skins converted using ConvertIt only if you are the author of the original skin.
